VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania- The Marist water polo team split its MAAC matches, Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes defeated La Salle in overtime 12-10, but fell to 22 ranked LIU
The Red Foxes moved to 5-2 in MAAC play during the 2024 season.
 

Match One Vs La Salle

• The Red Foxes gained a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
• The Red Foxes added three more goals to their lead in the second quarter and took a 7-3 lead into halftime.
• At the end of three quarters, La Salle evened the match with five goals.
  • The match was tied at 8-8.
• Both the Red Foxes and Explorers scored a goal in the final frame, which sent the game into overtime at 9-9.
• At the end of the first overtime period, the Red Foxes and Explorers scored a goal apiece.
  • The match at the end of the first overtime period scored 10-10.
• The Red Foxes scored two goals in the second overtime period and secured the victory 12-10.
• Paige Naegle scored a hat trick in the win for the Red Foxes.
• Kaylee Brard and Rachel Dean scored two goals each in the win.
• Inés Sánchez tallied 11 saves in the win for the Red Foxes.

  

Match Two Vs 22 LIU

• The Red Foxes trailed 5-1 against LIU after the first quarter.
• Going into the half, the Red Foxes trailed 9-2.
• In the third quarter, the Red Foxes scored four goals but trailed 12-6 going into the final frame.
• The Red Foxes fell 15-7 against LIU in the final match of the weekend.
• Paige Naegle scored a pair of goals in the game.
