POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Freshman safety
Chase Hatton of the Marist University football team has earned Honorable Mention for Stats Perform Football Championship Subdivision Freshman of the Week.

It is the third time this season Hatton has earned Honorable Mention for this award. He was previously recognized following Marist's victories over New Haven and Wagner.

Against Stetson on Saturday, Hatton totaled 12 tackles, two interceptions, one pass break-up, and half-a-tackle for loss in the Red Foxes' 41-13 victory. He was named Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.

Hatton was recently named to the Watch List for the Jerry Rice Award, which is presented to the nation's top freshman. He leads the Red Foxes with four interceptions and 79 tackles this season. He is tied for the national lead in interceptions among FCS freshmen, and his tackle total ranks third among FCS freshmen.

Marist returns to action on Saturday, when the Red Foxes host Davidson at Tenney Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon, and the game will be preceded by Senior Day.
