POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University women's lacrosse team rolled to a 13-7 victory over Vermont at Tenney Stadium on Saturday.
- Alexa Borges started the scoring just 50 seconds into the contest.
- Vermont tied the game at the 7:37 mark, but the Red Foxes then held the Catamounts scoreless for 9:57.
- Goals by Kate Gaven and Anne Shine gave Marist a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes.
- Borges also opened the scoring in the second quarter off an assist from Gaven at 13:29.
- Vermont climbed within two twice, but Chloe Birckhead scored and set up Borges for another goal, which gave Marist a 6-3 halftime lead.
- Caitlin McNaboe and Borges scored within 22 seconds of each other, staking Marist to an 8-3 advantage.
- Gaven and Birckhead added goals while the Red Foxes kept the Catamounts off the scoreboard in the quarter. Marist led 10-3 after 45 minutes.
- Shine scored off a feed from Borges at 12:11.
- Marist kept Vermont scoreless for 27:49, but the Catamount scored two in a row to get within 11-5.
