POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Despite two goals and an assist for three points from
Chloe Birckhead, Marist women's lacrosse team came up short at home against Monmouth, 9-5, Wednesday afternoon inside Tenney Stadium.
Birckhead led the charge with three points, while
Caitlin McNaboe,
Kate Gaven, and
Catherine Windsor added a goal apiece in the loss.
With the loss, Marist fell to 1-4 on the campaign, while Monmouth moved to 1-4 on the season with the win.
- Trailing 1-0, Chloe Birckhead opened the scoring for the Red Foxes with a goal with 10:23 left in the frame.
- Marist was outscored 4-2 the remainder of the frame, as Monmouth carried a 5-2 lead into the second.
- Caitlin McNaboe opened the scoring in the second with a goal off a feed from Birckhead to trim the deficit to two.
- After Monmouth responded with a goal, Catherine Windsor found the back of the net with 6:09 left in the half to cut the deficit to 6-4 into the half.
- Marist opened the scoring with an unassisted goal from Kate Gaven
- Monmouth responded with two straight goals to take an 8-5 advantage into the fourth
- Monmouth scored the lone goal in the frame, as the deficit proved to be too much for the Red Foxes, eventually falling 9-5
