POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University softball team will play five games this weekend in the Coach Cooke Memorial Tournament, which is hosted by Winthrop in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

• Friday, Feb. 28: Southern Indiana, 12:30 p.m.
• Friday, Feb. 28: Winthrop, 3 p.m.
• Saturday, March 1: Youngstown State, 10 a.m.
• Saturday, March 1: Charlotte, 12:30 p.m.
• Sunday, March 2: St. Bonaventure, 12:30 p.m.

Last Time Out

• Marist went 3-2 last week at the Stetson Invitational.
• The Red Foxes recorded two wins over LIU, and split their two contests against Stetson. Marist fell by one run to Florida Atlantic, which is ranked #25 in the country.

 

Accolades

• After pitching her first collegiate no-hitter against LIU, and earning a complete game win against Stetson, Kiley Myers was named Jersey Mike's MAAC Pitcher of the Week for the third straight week.
• After belting a grand slam in her first game against LIU, and going 10-for-17 with 12 RBIs over the weekend, Haley Ahr was named Jersey Mike's MAAC Player of the Week. Three different Red Foxes have won MAAC Player of the Week in the first three weeks of the season, as Ahr's honor followed Miah McDonald and Isabella Manory.
• Marist is ranked #19 in this week's D1Softball Mid-Major Top-25 Poll.
• Marist is 10-4 on the season. By winning their 10^th game in their 14^th try, this ties the quickest Marist has reached 10 wins in program history.

 

The Field

• Southern Indiana is 1-8 on the season. The Screaming Eagles are in their third year of Division I, won the Division II national championship in 2018, and won 49 games in 2022.
• Winthrop is 9-5 this season. The Eagles fell to Coastal Carolina in their most recent outing on Tuesday, but went 3-1 last weekend in the Winthrop Garnet & Gold Tournament.
• Youngstown State is 0-10 on the season, but the Penguins tied a program record with 36 wins last season, when they won the Horizon League regular-season championship.
• Charlotte is 7-10 this season, and has played four games against nationally-ranked teams (UCLA, Texas A&M, and two against LSU). The 49ers won the American Athletic Conference championship last season.
• St. Bonaventure is 3-1 on the season. The Red Foxes will also face the Bonnies twice next weekend in the Buccaneer Softball Classic, hosted by East Tennessee State.
