POMONA-PITZER, California- The Marist water polo team swept its midweek matches, triumphing against Azusa Pacific. The Red Foxes dominated in the match on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Cougars 14-6.
Ella Baumgarten and
Rachel Dean led the Red Foxes with a hat trick apiece in the win.
The Red Foxes improved to 14-8 overall on the 2025 season with the win.
- Quarter one:
- APU scored the opening goal of the match with 5:42 left to play in the quarter.
- A goal from Liana Hunt started a four-goal run for the Red Foxes late in the first quarter of play.
- With 20 seconds left in the quarter, APU scored a goal and cut into the Red Foxes lead 4-2 after one quarter of play.
- Quarter two:
- Ella Baumgarten started the second quarter with a goal for the Red Foxes.
- The goal started a 3-0 run for the Red Foxes to begin the quarter. The Red Foxes extended their lead to 7-2 with goals from Baumgarten, Lela McCarroll, and Rachel Dean.
- APU countered with two goals at the end of the quarter, but the Red Foxes led 4-7 at halftime.
- Quarter three:
- The Red Foxes started the third quarter with a goal from Kendell De Beer. The goal started a second 3-0 scoring run for the Red Foxes.
- The Red Foxes led 10-4 midway through the third quarter.
- APU scored one goal in the quarter with three minutes to go. The Red Foxes took a 10-5 lead into the final quarter of play.
- Quarter four:
- The Red Foxes dominated in the final quarter, outscoring APU 4-1.
- The Red Foxes triumphed 14-6 for their fourth-straight win.
- The Red Foxes compete in four matches at the Wolverine Invitational.
