EMMITSBURG, Maryland- The Marist water polo team split its two matches against MAAC opponents, Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes scored 14 goals in their win against Mount St. Mary's.
Rachel Dean scored a team-high five goals in the Red Foxes 14-9 win against the Mount.
Paige Naegle led the Red Foxes with four goals in the Red Foxes 14-13 loss against Iona.
The Red Foxes moved to 18-9 overall on the 2025 season and 3-2 in MAAC play.
- Quarter one:
- The Mount started the match with two early goals, as the Red Foxes trailed 2-0 with 4:45 to play in the quarter.
- The Red Foxes countered with four unanswered goals from Samantha Bentley, Kendell De Beer, and Rachel Dean. The Red Foxes led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter
- Quarter two:
- Dean started the scoring in the second quarter with a goal and extended the Red Foxes lead to 4-2.
- The Red Foxes went on to outscore the Mount 4-3 in a back-and-forth quarter.
- The Red Foxes took a 7-5 lead into halftime.
- Quarter three:
- Kendell De Beer scored the first two goals of the third quarter, which put the Red Foxes ahead 9-5.
- Dean scored her third goal of the match and Victoria Padilla tallied her first, which finished a 4-0 run for the Red Foxes. The Red Foxes led 11-5 with 2:59 left to play in the quarter.
- After two late goals from the Mount, Ella Baumgarten netted the final goal of the quarter and gave the Red Foxes a 12-7 lead.
- Quarter four:
- Both the Red Foxes and Mount scored two goals apiece, as the Red Foxes triumphed 14-9.
- The Red Foxes scored 14 goals on 32 shots in the win.
- Rachel Dean led the Red Foxes with five goals in the win.
- Kendell De Beer tallied a hat trick in the win.
- The Red Foxes finished the match 3-8 on the power play.
- Inés Sánchez recorded five saves in the win.
- Quarter one:
- Iona started the scoring with the first goal of the match.
- Paige Naegle countered with four unanswered goals, scoring the final goal with 23 seconds to play. Naegle accounted for all four Red Foxes goals in the quarter.
- Iona countered with a goal as time expired in the quarter, as the Red Foxes led 4-2 after one quarter of play.
- Quarter two:
- Both the Red Foxes and Gaels scored four goals apiece in a back-and-forth second quarter. The Red Foxes led 8-6 after two quarters of play.
- Quarter three:
- In the third quarter the Red Foxes were outscored 6-2 and trailed 12-10 heading into the final quarter of play.
- Quarter four:
- Rachel Dean started the scoring in the fourth quarter with 6:20 left to play. The Red Foxes cut into the Iona lead 12-11.
- Ella Baumgarten tied the match with a goal in the late minutes of the match. With 2:37 left to play, the Red Foxes and Gaels were tied at 12-12.
- Iona regained the lead with two unanswered goals and took a 14-12 lead with 1:45 left in the match.
- Lela McCarroll scored a goal with 45 seconds to play, but the Red Foxes comeback fell short 14-13 against the Gaels.
- The Red Foxes scored 13 goals on 34 shots in the match.
- Paige Naegle led the Red Foxes with four goals.
- Rachel Dean tallied a hat trick and scored eight goals on the day for the Red Foxes.
- The Red Foxes play two MAAC matches at Villanova on April 5.
