POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University softball team defeated Iona by a score of 6-2 in its regular-season finale on Friday at Gartland Field on Senior Day.
 

Summary

• The Red Foxes struck for four in the bottom of the first. Miah McDonald led off with a home run, and Sienna Kunze followed with a three-run shot three batters later.
• Maddie Pleasants added a two-run homer in the second.
• Pleasants started in the circle and took a no-hitter into the fifth, when Caelin Kosvitch's two-run double brought Iona to within 6-2.
• Pleasants went the first six innings for the win as she improved to 15-3. Isabella Milazzo closed out the game with a scoreless seventh.

 

Stats

• Pleasants went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs, and a walk. In the circle, she allowed just two hits and struck out eight.
• Kunze and Ronni Howard had two hits apiece.
• Haley Ahr scored two runs.

 

Senior Day

Marist honored eight members of its senior class prior to the game: Maddie Gore, Ronni Howard, Kaitlyn Husic, Miah McDonald, Isabella Milazzo, Lauren Morrell, Kiley Myers, and Maddie Pleasants.
 

Records

• Marist finished the regular season at 44-7-1 overall and 21-2-1 in the MAAC. The Red Foxes have now won 14 straight.
• Iona is 28-19 this season and 18-8 in MAAC play.
