Evan Marques of the Marist University men's soccer team was named Preseason All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Wednesday morning.

As a freshman last season, Marques was named Third Team All-MAAC. He played in all 18 of the Red Foxes' matches. He made 16 starts, including Marist's final 15 contests of the year.

Marques' first collegiate goal was a game-winner against LIU on Sept. 21. He also contributed three assists, with one coming in Marist's MAAC quarterfinal victory at Quinnipiac on Nov. 10. Marques led the Red Foxes with 1,473 minutes played as a freshman, and he went all 90 in Marist's last six contests.

As a team, Marist was picked to tied for fourth in the MAAC with one first-place vote.
