Red Foxes Set to Compete at Gotham Cup

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Marist men's and women's indoor track and field returns to action on Friday with the Gotham Cup inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
 
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT 
  • The men's track and field team opened continued 2025-26 indoor campaign at the TCNJ Invite
  • The highlight of the day came in the 500-meter dash, where Ryan Trocolar surged to victory in 1:03.80, a personal best and the second-fastest time in program history
  • The Red Foxes also showcased significant depth in the 400 meters, where Miracle Okoli (4th), Amari Mathis (5th, personal best), Weston LaBrecque (6th), and Emmanuel Harris (10th, personal best) all produced competitive performances on the Armory oval.
  • In the middle distances, Sean Wilson led a tightly bunched Marist group in the 800 meters, placing second in 1:57.08
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT 
  • The Marist women's track & field team continued its indoor campaign in record-setting fashion at the TCNJ Lions Invitational at the Armory Track and Field Center.
  • Sprinter Gabrielle Bozeth headlined the day with two standout performances. She shattered the 200-meter dash school record, winning the event in 25.27, eclipsing a mark that had stood since 2015. Earlier in the meet, she placed second in the 60-meter dash finals at 7.88.
  • In the field events, Alexandra Samperi and Ruby Kaupp added two more school records. Samperi won the long jump with a massive leap of 5.78 meters, breaking a 13-year-old program record. Kaupp cleared 3.35 meters in the pole vault, surpassing the school standard set in 2022.
  • In the 400 meters, Marist swept the top three spots, led by Julianna Mirabile, who opened her season with a personal-best victory in 58.51.
  • Marist added another podium sweep with strong runs from Stephania Granados and Breelyn McNamara.
  • The Red Foxes had an explosive end of the meet, as Kelly Ballen set a new school record in the weight throw at 8.03 meters.
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT AT GOTHAM CUP
  • The last time the men's competed at the Gotham Cup was Jan. 17, 2025
  • Noah Brown earned third in the pole vault and Daniel Vargas fourth, both scoring 3.98 meters.
  • Simeon Washington also placed in the top-ten for field events earning seventh in the long jump, jumping to 6.68 meters.
  • Amari Mathis earned fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.27.
  • Logan Schaeffler and Sean Wilson both earned top-10 performances as well. Schaeffler (7th) ran a time of 1:57.76 in the 800. Wilson (10th) ran a time of 2:31.90 in the 1000 meter run.
  • Both Marist "A" relay teams raced top-five finishes with the 4x400 meter relay "A" team (Okoli, Trocolar, Mathis, Eberwein) running a time of 3:23.19 for third-place and the 4x800 meter relay "A" team (Wininger, Wilson, Schaeffler, Nomula) running a time of 8:01.30 for fourth-place.
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT AT GOTHAM CUP
  • The last time the women's competed at the Gotham Cup was Jan. 17, 2025
  • The Marist Red Foxes secured six top-ten finishes at the event.
  • In the 60-meter dash, Stephania Granados earned Marist's top finish of the day, coming in fourth with a time of 8.16.
  • In the same event, Alyssa Dapont and Mackenzy Nielsen placed fifth and eighth respectively with times of 8.25 and 8.28
  • Sierra Fisher raced a 5:13.81 in the 1-mile run, earning herself a seventh place finish in her first race of the 2025 season.
  • In the 1000-meter run, Julianna Mirabile placed sixth with a time of 3:02.26. 
  • Grace Fletcher followed close behind in a time of 3:03.19 for eighth place, rounding out the top ten finishes of the day.
MAAC WEEKLY AWARDS
  • Marist women's indoor track & field saw two student-athletes earn Jersey Mike's MAAC weekly honors, as Gabrielle Bozeth was named the Rookie of the Week, while Alexandra Samperi was named the Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
