SANTA CLARA, CA – The Marist water polo team heads to the west coast for the Brono Invitational in Santa Clara, California.
 
They will face San Jose State University, CSUN, Santa Clara University, and Pomona-Pitzer from Feb. 13-14.

 

LAST TIME OUT

• The Red Foxes went 3-1 last weekend at the ASU Invitational
  • Match one vs #20 University of the Pacific: 16-11, win.
  • Match two vs #6 Arizona State University: 16-5, loss.
  • Match three vs #10 Fresno State: 13-10, win.
  • Match four vs #19 San Diego State University: 14-13, win.
• Samantha Bentley won offensive player of the week with eight goals, four assists, and two steals in the four matches.
• Ines Sanchez won defensive player of the week with 31 saves on 51 shots for a save percentage of 60% in the four matches.
• Madilyn Ekstrom won rookie player of the week with three goals, six assists, and four steals in the four matches.

 

SCOUTING SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY

• This match is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
• The Spartans come into this match with a record of 1-6 to start the season.
  • They went 0-3 at Polopalooza losing to UC Irvine, Hawaii, and Fresno State.
  • They went 1-3 at the Brigitte Donner Daws Memorial Invitational beating Cal State Monterey Bay and losing to Fresno State, UC Davis, and Cal.
• This is the first match between the Red Foxes and Spartans this season.

 

SCOUTING CSUN

• This match is slated for Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
• The Matadors have started the season 7-1 and are ranked #25 on the CWPA Top 25.
  • CSUN started the year 3-1 beating Cal Lutheran, Fresno Pacific, and Biola while losing to California Baptist.
  • At the CSUN Mini Invite, they beat Austin College and Concordia to go 2-0.
  • Most recently at the Och Tamale Invite they beat Occidental College and La Verne.
• This is the first match between the Red Foxes and Matadors.

 

SCOUTING SANTA CLARA UNIVERSITY

• This match will take place Feb.14 at 12:45 p.m. ET.
• The Broncos have started the season 1-6.
  • They started the season going 1-2 beating Fresno Pacific and losing to UC Davis and Cal State Monterey Bay.
  • At the Princeton Invitational they went 0-4 losing to Iona, LIU, Princeton, and Villanova.
• This is the first meeting between Marist and CSUN this season.

 

SCOUTING POMONA-PITZER

• This match is scheduled for Feb. 14 at 5:45 p.m. ET.
• The Sagehens are 2-5 to start the 2026 campaign.
  • They started the season going 0-2, losing to UC San Diego and Azusa Pacific University.
  • At the Triton Invite they went 1-4 beating University of California Santa Barbara and losing to Long Beach State, San Diego State, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
  • In their most recent match, they beat Whittier College 17-3.
• This will be the first match between Pomona-Pitzer and Marist.
