Marist Water Polo Gets Set For Its Home Opener

The Red Foxes Face Iona And Salem At Home On Saturday Feb. 21

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Marist water polo team comes back to Poughkeepsie for their home opener.
 
They will face off against Iona University and Salem University on Saturday Feb. 21.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes went 3-1 last weekend at the Bronco Invitational.
    • Match one vs San Jose State University: 15-14, loss.
    • Match two vs CSUN: 16-11, win.
    • Match three vs Santa Clara University: 18-10, win.
    • Match four vs Pomona-Pitzer: 15-9, win.
  • Ines Sanchez won defensive player of the week with a dominant performance in goal. Over the weekend she saved 27 of 44 shots for a save percentage of 61%.
  • Kendall De Beer had her best weekend yet scoring 14 goals and seven assists in the four matches.
 
SCOUTING IONA UNIVERSITY
  • This match is slated for Feb. 21 at 10:00 a.m. ET.
  • The Gaels have started the season with a 3-8 record.
    • Most recently they lost to #21 Wagner, 16-10, on Feb. 18 and Princeton, 14-2, on Feb. 14.
    • At the 2026 Wildcat Invite they went 1-2 beating Gannon, 16-5, and lost to Villanova, 17-10, and La Salle, 12-10.
  • This is the first match between the Red Foxes and Gaels this season.
 
SCOUTING SALEM UNIVERSITY
  • This match is scheduled for Feb. 21 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
  • The Tigers have started the season with a 3-2 record.
    • In their first match of the season, they lost to Villanova by a score of 22-10.
    • Most recently at the VMI Invitational they went 3-1. They beat Saint Francis University, 15-12, Mount St. Mary's (Md.), 17-10, and VMI, 16-9, while losing to Bucknell University 14-4.
  • This is the first matchup between the Red Foxes and Tigers this season.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Red Foxes head to Cambridge, MA, for two matches on March 1st where they will rematch against Wagner and face off against Harvard.
