POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior center fielder
Peyton Pusey of the Marist University softball team was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-Region on Thursday.
Pusey became the first player in program history to be named First Team NFCA All-Region three times in her career, as she has now earned that honor each of the last three years. Pusey has earned NFCA All-Region honors in all four years of her career, as she was named Second Team All-Region as a freshman.
Earlier this season, Pusey earned MAAC Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player of the MAAC Championship. She was named First Team All-MAAC for the third straight year, and she has received All-MAAC honors in all four years of her career.
Pusey is hitting .404 this season with 49 runs scored, eight home runs, and 31 runs batted in. She has 23 extra-base hits and 12 stolen bases. In her active 11-game hitting streak, she is hitting .548 (23-for-42) with 16 runs scored, four home runs, and 12 RBIs.
Pusey is Marist's and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's all-time leader in runs scored (241). In program history, she also ranks second in hits (294), second in batting average (.394), third in stolen bases (67), fifth in triples (10), and fifth in doubles (45).
Marist (37-19) opens NCAA Regional play on Friday at Texas Tech. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. Eastern, and the game will be carried on ESPN+.
