WASHINGTON (AP) - David Paulus threw two touchdown passes as Georgetown beat Marist 24-17 Saturday afternoon.
Luke McArdle and Trenton Hillier caught scoring passes and John Sims ran for a touchdown for the Hoyas (4-5, 1-4 Patriot League), who have won two straight and three of four. The consecutive victories were Georgetown's first since Oct. 6 and 13, 2001.
Chris Price and Alfredo Riullano ran for touchdowns for the Red Foxes (5-4, 3-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), who have lost three straight after a 5-1 start, the best in school history.
The Hoyas marched the opening kickoff 67 yards in 13 plays before John Sims went up the middle for a 4-yard touchdown run. Marist got a break when Georgetown's Andrew Clarke fumbled an interception at the Hoyas' 1-yard line and the Red Foxes tied the game on Price's plunge with 3:42 left in the first quarter.
Paulus, who was 10-for-23 for 201 yards, found McArdle along the right sideline early in the second quarter for a 58-yard scoring pass and a 14-7 Georgetown lead.
An interception by William Skultety set up Hillier's 64-yard touchdown reception from Paulus for a 21-7 lead with 9:44 left in the third quarter. But Riullano scored on a 1-yard run to get Marist within seven points with 2:22 to go.
Georgetown's Michael Gillman and Marist's Brett Biggs traded fourth-quarter field goals.
