Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College men's soccer team was selected to finish third this season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as selected by the league's 10 head coaches.
Loyola was the top choice with 91 points in the poll, just three points ahead of second-place Fairfield University (88). Marist College collected 75 points, while Saint Peter's College was fourth with 71 points. Siena College placed fifth (60), followed by Niagara University (49), Canisius College (44), Rider University (32), Manhattan College (22) and Iona College (18).
Junior defender David Musinski (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) and sophomore midfielder Bruno Machado (Danbury, CT/Danbury) were selected as members of the 2003 MAAC preseason team. Musinski finished the 2002 season with three goals including the game-winner against Rider and the game-tying and game-winning goals against Niagara. Machado garnered MAAC Rookie of the Year accolades along with a Second Team All-MAAC selection. Machado started 17 games while tallying a team-high 18 points on seven goals and four assists.
The Red Foxes open their season on Saturday August 30th at University at Albany. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 while the home opener will be under the lights of Leonidoff Field on Saturday September 6th as the Red Foxes host Stony Brook at 7:00.
