Final Stats

PHILADELPHIA, PA- After scoring just five goals in their first six games, the Marist Men's Soccer team has exploded for seven in their last two. The latest four came in the Red Foxes 4-2 victory at Philadelphia University on Saturday afternoon. Keith Detelj (Sayville, N.Y.) tallied three times while Anthony Graci (Kings Park, N.Y.) picked up his first goal of the season in the win.

Detelj got the scoring underway at the 21:32 mark to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 advantage. Detelj would beat Philadelphia goalkeeper Phil Szczerba again just 17 minutes later off a pass from Anthony Graci. Detelj's second of the game, and fifth of the season, gave the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead that would stand up until just before the halftime horn.

With :01 second remaining on the clock Luca Zucal of the Rams beat Michael Danyo (Cherry Hill, N.J.) to cut the Red Foxes lead to a single goal. Gianni Cimini would knot the score at 2-2 in the 53rd minute, but that would be as close as the Rams would get the rest of the afternoon. Detelj closed out his impressive day with his thrird goal at the 59:06 mark to give Marist the lead for good. The Red Foxes would add some insurance later on as Graci would knock home a pass from freshman, Luis Andre. In the past two games Graci has found his scoring touch, he picked up the goal and an assist on Saturday, to go along with two helpers on Wednesday at Albany.

For the game, Marist held the advantage in shots 15-14 and shots on goal at 10-7. The Red Foxes also had the advantage in corner kicks 9-3.

Saturday's game closed out the non-conference portion of Marist's schedule. They head into MAAC play at 2-5-1 on the year. The Red Foxes first MAAC game will be this Friday at Manhattan, and they follow that up with a trip to Saint Peter's next Sunday. The Red Foxes first home conference game comes on October 14 when they host Loyola at 7 p.m.
