POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Head Volleyball Coach Tom Hanna has announced the addition of three newcomers as part of the graduating class of 2011. Middle Blocker Allie Burke (Alpharetta, Ga.), Defensive Specialist/Libero Emily Brosky (Whitehall, Pa.) and Outside Hitter Raeanna Gutkowski (Califon, N.J.) will join the Red Foxes in the fall of 2007.
"These three players will not only solidify this recruiting class, but they will help to set the foundation of the Marist Volleyball Program for the next four years," said Hanna.
Allie Burke - 5'11" Middle Blocker -Alpharetta, Ga./The Marist School/A5
Burke will come to Poughkeepsie after a successful high school career at The Marist School and club career with A5. While at The Marist School, Burke was named All-Area Most Valuable Player for her team that finished as the Georgia State Class AAAA Runner-Up. During her senior season of 2006, Burke was named All-Area and All-State First Team, as The Marist School won the 2006 Georgia State Class AAAA Championship. In 2007, Burke is serving as captain for her A5 club team, which is a National Championship Qualifier.
Coach Hanna on Burke: "Allie is a great addition to the Marist Community. She is a tremendously hard worker both on the court and in the classroom. Her experience and competitive attitude will help our program immensely over the next four years."
Emily Brosky - 5'4" Defensive Specialist/Libero - Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic/Stew's Crew
Brosky has seen success at both the high school and club level with Allentown Central Catholic and Stew's Crew, respectively. In 2006, she was part of the Pennsylvania Class AAA State Runner-Up team at Allentown Central Catholic. During the 2007 club season, her Stew's Crew team is a National Championship Qualifier.
Hanna on Brosky: "Emily is another great student-athlete coming into our program. She has a great deal of experience that will be an asset to Marist Volleyball. I have every expectation that she will help improve and solidify our ball control."
Raeanna Gutkowski - 5'10" Outside Hitter - Califon, N.J./West Morris Central/Allegro
Gutkowski will join the Red Foxes after a decorated career at West Morris Central High School. As a senior during the 2006 season, she was named Morris County Player of the Year, First Team All-State, First Team All-County and First Team All-Conference. Her team finished 2006 as the New Jersey Group 3 State Runner-Up and her squad was the four time Morris County Champion. Playing for the club team Allegro, Gutkowski was named a captain for the 2006 and 2007 season.

The Red Foxes closed out the 2006 campaign with an 11-19 overall record and an 8-10 mark in the MAAC. The Red Foxes were the fifth seed in the 2006 MAAC Volleyball Tournament held in Orlando, Fla.
