POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University volleyball team earned two Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly awards following three conference victories in a five-day span.
Sara Dasic earned MAAC Player of the Week, and
Mallory Reck was named MAAC Rookie of the Week after the Red Foxes earned victories over Siena, Manhattan, and Iona.
Dasic had a team-best 3.91 kills per set to go along with 3.09 digs per set and 0.36 aces per set this past week. She had a hitting percentage of .319. Against Siena on Sept. 30, Dasic hit an impressive .579 with 11 kills, nine digs, three aces (tied for her career high), and two assists. In Marist's five-set win over Manhattan on Oct. 3, she had season highs of 21 kills and 16 digs while hitting .310. Three of her kills came in the decisive fifth set. She finished the week with 11 kills, nine digs, and an ace against Iona on Oct. 4.
Reck had 3.45 kills, 2.73 digs, and 0.36 blocks per set to go along with a .220 hitting percentage in Marist's three wins. Against Siena on Sept. 30, she tallied eight kills, seven digs, two blocks, and an assist. In Marist's win over Manhattan on Oct. 3, Reck totaled 14 kills, a career-high 14 digs, and a block, with two kills coming in the fifth set. In Marist's three-set win against Iona on Oct. 4, Reck had a career-high 16 kills with a .333 hitting percentage, in addition to nine digs, a block, and an ace.
This is first MAAC weekly award in the careers of both Dasic and Reck. Marist has now won three MAAC weekly awards this season, following
Caelyn Dumas' Co-Setter of the Week honor on Sept. 9.
Marist returns to action tonight, when the Red Foxes host Holy Cross at McCann Arena. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
