Highlights

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist junior quarterback Chris Debowski (Fountain Valley, Calif.) tied a school record by throwing four touchdown passes as the Red Foxes downed Bryant 34-7 on Saturday at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. Pete Ford, who accomplished the feat in 1995 against Siena, and Kevin Chartrand, who did it against La Salle in 1999, are the only other Marist quarterbacks to throw for four touchdowns in a game.

Debowksi threw for 321 yards, the second-highest total in program history. He completed 15 of 28 passes and also led the Red Foxes with 33 yards rushing. Junior wide receiver James LaMacchia (Bronx, N.Y.) caught two of Debowski's scoring passes, finishing with a career-high 154 yards receiving on four receptions. Freshman wide receiver R.J. Roe (Lacey Township, N.J.) also caught the first two touchdown passes of his career, finishing with 66 yards on four catches.

For the second straight week, Marist scored an 80-yard touchdown on its first play from scrimmage. After Bryant punted on its first drive, the Red Foxes took over at their own 20. Debowski hit LaMacchia deep over the middle, eluded a would-be tackler near midfield, and headed to the end zone to put Marist ahead. Marist added 38- and 25-yard field goals from sophomore kicker Kevin Pauly (Rochester, N.Y.) in the second quarter to take a 13-0 halftime lead.

After the Red Foxes punted on their first drive of the second half, Bryant put together a 12-play, 49-yard drive which resulted in a missed field goal. Marist ran its lead to 20-0 six plays leader on a 56-yard pass from Debowski to LaMacchia.

Debowski's third touchdown pass came in the fourth quarter, a 15-yard pass to Roe to make it 27-0. After Bryant scored on its ensuing possession, the Red Foxes put together a seven-play, 56-yard drive which ended with Debowski's record-tying fourth touchdown pass of the game, a 25-yard pass to Roe to close out the scoring.

Defensively, the Red Foxes recorded five sacks, with senior linebacker Nick Andre (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and junior linebacker Kurt Steubing (Massapequa, N.Y.) finishing with one-and-a-half apiece. Andre led the Red Foxes with 11 tackles, six of which were solo. Sophomore safety Kwame Carlor (Southbridge, Mass.). Marist also received a sack from senior defensive end OG Igbinosun (Rahway, N.J.).

Marist outgained Bryant 428-286. Lindsey Gamble, who scored Bryant's lone touchdown, finished with 100 yards on 20 carries.

Marist improved to 2-5, while Bryant fell to 3-3. Following a bye week, the Red Foxes will close out their home schedule on Oct. 25, as they host Iona on Senior Day at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. Marist will then close out the 2008 season with road games against Fordham, Georgetown and Davidson.

Notes: Marist played its 300th varsity game tonight. Prior to the game, Marist radio play-by-play broadcaster Ed Weir, who has been on the air for all 300 games, tossed the coin. ... Senior running back Obozua Ehikioya (West Hempstead, N.Y.) was presented a commemorative ball prior to the game for setting the school record with his 42nd career touchdown last Saturday against Bucknell. Ehikioya had 25 yards on eight carries on Saturday. ... Debowski's 321-yard game was the fourth 300-yard performance in school history. The last was Steve McGrath's 396-yard game at Sacred Heart in 2007, the only yardage total in school history greater than Debowski's performance tonight.
