KISSIMMEE, FLA. - The Marist softball team dropped its third straight game at the Rebel Spring Games at the Osceola County Softball Complex on Sunday. On Sunday morning the Red Foxes fell victim to the Colgate Raiders 6-2. Sophomore McCallion Campbell (Port Jervis, N.Y.) had two base hits in the game.
Colgate jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Jen Ortega drove in two runs with a triple. She came around to score on a Stephanie Hartquist base hit. The Raiders added two runs in the top of the third to build a 5-0 lead.
The Red Foxes pulled to within four runs after Alyxandra Ponce (Columbia, Md.) led off the third inning with a walk. She stole second and came around to score on a Nicole DiVirgilio (Aston, Pa.) single two batters later.
Marist (1-6) added a run in the seventh to arrive at the final margin. Corris led off the last half inning with a double over the head of center fielder Alana Dyson. She scored on a Ponce single.
Senior Alanna Woody (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) suffered her first loss of the season. She surrendered six runs, five of which were earned and struck out one batter.
