Red Foxes Lose By 12 To Green Bay At Rebel Games

KISSIMMEE, FLA. - The Marist softball team jumped out to a lead in its second straight game but surrendered the lead as the Red Foxes fell to the Green Bay Phoenix 17-5 on Wednesday. The game was called after five innings as Green Bay, the designated home team, was ahead by more than eight runs.

The Red Foxes got out of the gate quickly as they scored three runs in the top half of the first inning. Senior designated player Alanna Woody (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) drove a one out single down the right field line. After freshman Kate Malloy (Fair Haven, N.J.) drove in Woody with a double to left center field.

Sophomore Nicole DiVirgilio (Aston, Pa.) finished the rally with a double to right center field which scored Koltz and Malloy.

Green Bay responded by scoring 11 runs in the third inning as the Phoenix sent 14 batters to the plate. It added six more in the fourth to reach the total of 17 runs in the game.

In the circle for Marist, sophomore Caitlin Schell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) fell to 0-4 on the season.

Marist will return to action on Friday, March 19 at 9 a.m. as it takes on Cleveland State. Following the first game, the Red Foxes will face the Lafayette Leopards at approximately 11 a.m. Both games will be streamed on GoRedFoxes.com with LIVE audio.
