Box Score

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In the first game of a doubleheader Marist was taken down by the Binghamton Bearcats 8-0 in five innings.

The Red Fox offense was stifled throughout the game by a solid pitching performance from the Bearcats. Marist's only hits of the day came off the bat of freshman second baseman Christina Lausch (Lancaster, Pa.) in the bottom of the second and fifth innings.

Marist senior Alanna Woody (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) was the losing pitcher as she gave up six earned runs on seven hits through 3.1 innings of work. Sophomore Caitlin Schell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) pitched the final 1.2 innings for the Red Foxes. She struck out two batters while giving up two runs on two hits.

Binghamton's offensive onslaught began in the top of the second inning when the Bearcats scored four runs on five hits and continued the fireworks with back-to-back homeruns in the third and as well as two more runs in the fifth.

The Red Foxes look to recover in the second game of the doubleheader later today.
