PROVIDENCE R.I. - The Marist men's tennis team was led by a pair of freshmen on the second day of the Brown Invitational. Jacob Solly (Sydney, Australia) and Dalen Klassen (St. Louis, Mo.) won the Flight 5 doubles main draw on the second day of the three-day event. The pair also picked up singles wins in Flights 9 and 8 respectively, along with three others singles players.

To get to the finals, the pair of newcomers defeated Chris Tortora and Mark Malloy of Bucknell 8-4. With the win they took on Connor Feuielle and Archer McFall of Colgate. Klassen and Solly shutout the pair of Red Raiders 8-0.

Klassen picked up his third win of the day in straight sets over Feuielle 6-2, 6-1 to earn a spot in the Flight 8 finals tomorrow. Solly also won his singles match in two sets, a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Brandon Frank in Flight 9. Frank plays for Brandeis.

Senior Landon Greene (Palos Verdes, Calif.) and Bradley Royes (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) won two doubles matches in the Flight 1 back draw on Saturday. After a loss Friday, the pair won the back draw with victories over Villanova's Trenton Alenick and John Drosick in the semis, and Hofstra's Antonio Pena and Matthew Gemmel in the back draw finals. The scores were 8-5 in the back draw semifinals and 8-6 in the back draw finals.

Royes won his Flight 10 singles match as he bested Bobby Berkowitz of Colgate in a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Senior Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) and Will Reznek (Toronto, Canada) picked up singles wins in Flights 5 and 7 respectively. Von Nordheim defeated Miles Garrigues of Brown 6-4, 6-1, while Reznek won his second singles match in as many days. He beat Connor Crowley of Bryant 6-2, 6-2. With those wins, the Red Foxes won five singles matches on Saturday, all of which came from the bottom portion of the lineup.

The Red Foxes conclude their first tournament of the fall, the Brown Invitational, on Sunday. Play is scheduled to begin 9 a.m. in Providence, R.I.
