EDISON, N.J. - Sophomore Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) of the Marist women's tennis team was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday. Raynor was the top player for the Red Foxes in their matchup with Quinnipiac on Saturday, March 5, as she collected two victories.
In singles action, she collected Marist's only team point as she won the number one singles match against Rachel Cantor by a score of 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. She paired with Joana Sun to win her number one doubles match with a 8-5 score over the Quinnipiac team of Cantor and Markison.
She currently is on a three match winning streak as she has swept her last three singles opponents in straight sets.
Raynor is the first Marist Women's player to receive a league honor in the young 2011 season. This is her second career award, as she won MAAC Player of the Week on April 20, 2010.
Marist will return to action on Sunday, March 13 as they begin their four match in three day spring break trip to face-off with Florida A&M and Western Illinois on day one in Orlando, Florida.
