COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Marist women's water polo team opened their 2012 season Saturday, competing twice at the Terrapin Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland.
In the first game of the day, the Red Foxes fell to tournament host Maryland by a score of 15-7. Six different players scored for Marist, led by two goals from freshman Alison Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) in her collegiate debut. Hannah Levien (Davis, Calif.) also scored in her first game at the collegiate level. Rebecca Thomas (Cape Town, South Africa) made six saves in goal in her first action in a Marist uniform.
The later game saw the Red Foxes fall to #8 San Diego State 15-1. Robyn Crabtree (Cutler Bay, Fla.) had the lone goal for Marist.
The Red Foxes will play their final game of the tournament at 12 p.m. on Sunday against #15 UC San Diego.
