LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Marist men's tennis team opened up its title defense run in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with a resounding 6-1 victory over Siena on Thursday afternoon.

The Red Foxes (1-0) started the day by sweeping the doubles point with three victories. The duo of Lorenzo Rossi (Lugano, Switzerland) and Will Reznek (Toronto, Canada) won at first doubles with an 8-6 victory. Trym Nagelstad (Oslo, Norway) and Dylan Fletcher (Stow, Mass.) cruised to an 8-3 victory at second doubles while Joseph Dube (Livonia, Mich.) and Julien Hochner (Nice, France) also won easily at third doubles, 8-4.

Rossi and Reznek each cruised at first and second singles, winning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively. Nagelstad also easily dispatched of his opponent at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Fletcher continued his undefeated start to his collegiate career, getting his first MAAC victory at fifth singles, 6-1,6-3. He improved to 8-0 on the season in singles' play.

Likewise, Hochner got the first MAAC win of his career, coming back in a three-set match for a tough 6-7 (5), 6-1, 10-8 victory.

Dube fell in a hard fought three-set match at third singles, 1-6, 6-4, 10-8.

"This is an excellent start to our MAAC season,” head coach Tim Smith said. “It was nice to see Julien Hochner pick up his first MAAC win in singles and team with Joe Dube in doubles."
