BALTIMORE, MD – The men's swimming and diving team went 3-0 over the weekend at the H2ound Invite. At the dual meet, the Red Foxes beat Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Iona College 252-112, while overtaking Loyola 214-156, and sealed the win over MAAC opponent Saint Peter's 285-70. Marist is now 6-1 overall, and 4-1 in the MAAC.
Marist claimed first place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.14. The relay team was comprised of junior Dylan Cummings (Midland Park, N.J.), freshman David DiMarco (Nazareth, Pa.), junior Jason Ruddy (Lake Katrine, N.Y.), and junior John Spitzer (Fairport, N.Y.). The Red Foxes also placed fourth in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.14.
With a time of 1:54.52, Ruddy claimed second place in the 200 yard butterfly, while freshman Alexander Cassel (East Greenville, Pa.) took fifth in 1:58.24.
In the 200 yard backstroke, senior Nick Spinella (Franklin Square, N.Y.) claimed third place with a time of 1:55.73, while freshman Chris Penteck (Holbrook, N.Y.) and sophomore Caleb Camp (Chapel Hill, N.C.) took fifth (1:58.40) and sixth (2:00.39).
Also for the Red Foxes, senior Alex Lombardi (Branford, Conn.) took fourth place in the 100 yard freestyle in 48.06. DiMarco placed second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.79, while freshman Harris Nagle (Allentown, Pa.) took fourth in 2:15.91.
In the one-meter dive, the Red Foxes claimed three of the top five placing dives. Sophomore Josh Dodway (Niskayuna, N.Y.) took second place (268.40), junior Jacob Baker (Shavertown, Pa.) following behind in third place (265.70), and senior Sean Molloy (Slingerlands, N.Y.) placed fourth (255.35).
The Red Foxes move on to compete at Southern Connecticut State on Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.
