NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Marist water polo split a pair of games on Tuesday evening, falling to 13th-ranked CSU-Northridge 13-8 before coming back to defeat Concordia 8-6.
In the win versus Concordia, the Red Foxes (12-8) used four goals in the second quarter to snap a 2-2 tie and pull away for the win. Hannah Levien (Davis, Calif.) scored three goals to lead the offense. Jessica Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) found the back of the net twice and Yuriria Chavez (Chicago, Ill.), Robyn Crabtree (Cutler Bay, Fla.) and Shelby Rinker (Lansdale, Pa.) all also scored. Freshman Skyler Henry (San Diego, Calif.) made eight saves for the win.
Earlier in the day against #13 CSU-Northridge, Marist only trailed by one at the end of each of the first three quarter. However, the Red Foxes could not score in the fourth quarter while Northridge scored four times. Seven different players scored for Marist and Rebecca Thomas (Cape Town, South Africa) made six saves in goal.
Marist concludes its spring break trip to the west coast with a single game on Wednesday against Claremont at 2 p.m.
