LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Marist water polo team fell to No. 7 nationally ranked Princeton University, 11-5, in its first game of the Bucknell Invitational.

“The team is looking better and better each week, making improvements on both sides of the ball,” said Head Coach Natalie Benson.

Junior Jessica Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) dominated for the Red Foxes, claiming all five of Marist's goals for the game. Hamby tallied her first goal in the first quarter, with two to follow in both the second and third quarters, as she only missed on shot in the outing. She also capitalized on a six-on-five opportunity in the fourth quarter.

Also for the Red Foxes, freshman Amanda Amorosa (Montreal, QC) and junior Allison Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) tallied two assists each, while junior Anna-Lena Hathaway (South Pasadena, Calif.) added one. Hathaway also compiled four steals and a field block, while Yuriria Chavez (Chicago, Ill.) added three steals in the loss.

Sophomore goalie Skyler Henry (San Diego, Calif.) posted 10 saves and a steal against the Red Foxes' nationally ranked opponent.

“Jessica Hamby was huge for us today, with all five goals,” Benson said. “Defensively, Skyler Henry, Amanda Amorosa, and Anna-Lena Hathaway came up with big defensive stops or steals.  While I am happy with the upswing of consistent team play both offensively and defensively, we need others to step up their game offensively in order to be successful and win games. Many are struggling to find the back of the net.”
