ORLANDO, Fla. – The Marist softball team fell to the University of Central Florida (UCF) 11-0 today before facing off against the Netherlands National team in an exhibition game.

Game One

UCF posted a run in the first inning before tallying three more in the third and another in the fourth inning. Today. The team tacked on six more runs to clinch the game in five innings.

For the Red Foxes, senior Haley Birnbaum (Lido Beach, N.Y.) and freshman Rebecca Freeman (Robbinsville, N.J.) each claimed a hit in the outing. Senior Alyssa Zahka (Lexington, Mass.) led the team defensively with seven putouts, while junior Nicole Cheek (Simi Valley, Calif.) tallied three assists. Junior Janine Lalli (Eastchester, N.Y.) took the loss for the day, compiling four earned runs and one strikeout in four innings pitched.

Game Two

The Red Foxes played two innings agains the Netherlands National Team before the game was rained out.

Marist moves on to face off against Stetson tomorrow in a doubleheader that starts at 4 p.m.
