FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Marist softball team (13-19, 4-2 MAAC) made up its game against Fairfield (14-16, 10-2) today, falling in a close Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest with a 3-2 loss.

After Fairfield posted a run in the bottom of the second, the Red Foxes notched two in the fourth to claim the lead. Sophomore Kyrsten Van Natta (Maplewood, N.J.) walked to kick off the inning. Van Natta would go on to cross the plate as freshman Janna Korak (Huntsville, Ala.) doubled to left field. For the team's second run, senior Aly Klemmer stepped up to plate and singled down the right field line for Korak to make her way around the bases.

Unfortunately, the Stags would tally two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the victory.

The hits were spread among six Red Foxes, as sophomore Maureen Duddy (San Mateo, Calif.), Van Natta, Korak, Klemmer, freshman Rebecca Freeman (Robbinsville, N.J.) and senior Alyssa Zahka (Lexington, Mass.) had a hit in the outing. Defensively, Klemmer posted five putouts, while Van Natta and senior Paige Lewis (Temecula, Calif.) claimed two assists each. Lewis took the loss for Marist, as she compiled three strikeouts and allowed two earned runs. In six innings pitched.
