WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. –The Marist men's tennis team swept doubles and won four out of five singles matches as they defeated the Radford University Highlanders, 5-1, Thursday afternoon at the Cross Court Tennis Club. With the victory the Red Foxes wrap up a tough non-conference schedule at 5-6 overall.

The Red Foxes started the day off by sweeping doubles with wins from the teams of Fredrik Bjerke (Oslo, Norway) and Joe Motta (Staten Island, N.Y.), Rudolf Kurz (Oberpullendorf, Austria) and Dylan Fletcher (Stow, Mass.), and Justin Chanthalangsy (San Marcos, Calif.) and Matteo Giudici (Parma, Italy).

After dropping the first singles set the Red Foxes wouldn't lose another match on the day. Kurz rebounded in the next match and defeated Radford's Michiel Meekers in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. The first set in Kurz match would be the last and only set the Red Foxes would lose in the match, winning in resounding fashion. Joseph Dube (Livonia, Mich.), Timo Tanzer (Auvernier, Switzerland), and Jan Dernic (Koper, Slovenia) also picked up key singles wins on the day.

The Red Foxes take the next two weeks off as they tune up and prepare for conference action as they start their title defense by taking on the Fairfield Stags, Mar. 28, on the road and then Rider at home on Mar. 29.
