POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK – The Marist men's tennis team improved to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 7-0 win over the Rider Broncs, Sunday afternoon at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion.

Senior captain Matteo Giudici (Parma, Italy) and junior Julien Hochner (Nice, France) teamed up to win the Red Foxes first doubles match of the day defeating Rider's Chris Poposo and Adam Levi, 6-2.

Junior Joe Motta (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman Jan Dernic (Koper, Slovenia) clinched the doubles point as they took down the Broncs Matthew Begley and Agazi Berhane, 6-2. Freshman Rudolf Kurz (Oberpullendorf, Austria) and sophomore Dylan Fletcher (Stow, Mass.) won the third and final doubles match.

Hochner won the Red Foxes first singles match of the day, defeating Rider's Ahmed Al-Shawafi 6-0, 6-1. Kurz followed up with a straight set, 6-3, 6-2, victory and then Dernic clinched the match for the Red Foxes with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set victory over Rider's Levi.

"It was great being outside and the weather got better the longer we played," said head coach Tim Smith. "This is a tune up for an important match tomorrow against Fairfield and I was extremely pleased with the play of Dylan Fletcher in both singles and doubles."

The Red Foxes return to action with a conference match up against Fairfield on Monday, March 30 on the road.
