NIAGARA, NEW YORK – The Marist men's tennis team picked up a bounce back win as they defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup. With the win the Red Foxes improve to 12-7 overall and 5-1 in conference action.

“Wonderful day in Western New York,” said head coach Tim Smith. “We really competed in all the matches and winning the doubles was the difference in winning the match."

The Red Foxes claimed two out of the three doubles matches, enough to claim the crucial doubles point and eventually the match. Freshman Justin Chanthalangsy (San Marcos, Calif.) teamed up with senior captain Matteo Giudici (Parma, Italy) while freshman Rudolf Kurz (Oberpullendorf, Austria) partnered up with sophomore Dylan Fletcher (Stow, Mass.) to win doubles matches for the Red Foxes.

Kurz defeated Inaki Belloso from Niagara, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in singles, senior captain Joseph Dube (Livonia, MIch.) defeated David Raymond, 6-4, 7-6, and Giudici won his singles match against Francis Nadeau, 6-4, 6-0.

The Red Foxes wrap up the regular season as they take on Quinnipiac at home on April 20 at 11 A.M.
