Sophomore safety Kwame Darko led Marist eight tackles in addition to a pass break-up. Senior defensive end John Brennan had seven tackles, including three for a loss of yardage.
After the teams exchanged punts on the game's first three drives, Georgetown scored on its next three possessions – a field goal, followed by two touchdowns – to take a 17-0 lead.
On Marist's next possession, White entered the game in relief of starter Ed Achziger. His first pass was intercepted and returned 34 yards for a touchdown by Jelani Williams. However, White responded by leading the Red Foxes on an eight-play, 86-yard touchdown drive. The longest play of the drive was a 38-yard completion to Dickens, and it ended with a seven-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Dylan Clay.
With 1:14 left in the first half, a seven-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Nolan to Justin Hill – the second touchdown connection between the duo in the first half – gave Georgetown a 31-7 lead. The Hoyas closed out the scoring in the third quarter on a 31-yard field goal by Henry Darmstadter.
Nolan finished 21-for-34 through the air for 200 yards and the two scores to Hill, who had a team-high 64 receiving yards on five receptions. Defensively, David Akere led the Hoyas with 12 tackles and an interceptions.
Marist will play its home opener in its next contest on Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Red Foxes host Sacred Heart. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale, and for further information, please click here.
