POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist men's tennis' head coach Tim Smith has announced the addition of Javier Restrepo for the 2016-17 spring semester. Retrepo joins the team as a junior after transferring from UNC-Wilmington.
“Javier has a very high tennis IQ and he's a real student of the game,” said Smith. “We foresee him playing in the top two of our lineup. With his extensive international and national tournament experience in the United States, on paper and with his results he should be an impact player on our team. His engaging personality and on-court grit has shown that he will be a player that leads by example”
Restrepo is a five-star TRN (Tennis Recruiting.net) that was ranked as high as 53 nationally in boys 18's and as high as No. 10 in his junior career. In addition he was ranked as high as No. 233 (International Tennis Federation) in the Junior World Rankings and won five rounds in the Summer Clay Court Super-Nationals, beating two of the top 20 players in the US.
