POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist volleyball team (6-10, 3-2 MAAC) will head to Hamden, Connecticut, to square off against Quinnipiac (6-14, 5-2 MAAC) at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 in a rematch of last year's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship semifinal.

The Red Foxes split their two MAAC matchups in Poughkeepsie over the weekend, beating Manhattan, 3-0, on Sept. 30 and falling to Iona, 3-1, on Oct. 1. Marist senior
Kelsey Ediger posted double-digit kills against the Jaspers (12) and Gaels (11), while junior
Katie Brierley led the Red Foxes in digs in both contests. Brierley dove for 11 digs against Manhattan and 21 versus Iona. She also had a pair of service aces against the Gaels.

Nikki DeSerpa is one of two Red Foxes to have started all 16 matches this season. She is averaging the most points (3.42) and kills per set (2.98) among her teammates. Junior
Taylor van der Biezen leads Marist with 483 assists and is first on the team with 20 service aces.
Marist has continued to dominate on the defensive end, as it still leads the conference averaging 1.96 blocks per set. Â

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS

Quinnipiac went 1-1 during its weekend Buffalo Trip, losing to Niagara in straight sets on Sept. 30 and holding off Canisius, 3-2, on Oct. 1. Sophomore Natalie Alechko led the Bobcats with 15 kills and eight digs against Niagara and slammed a career-high 25 kills in Quinnipiac's victory at Canisius. Nine of her kills came in the decisive fifth set.

As a team Quinnipiac is currently atop the MAAC in assists (830), kills (892), and hitting percentage (.179). Their 122 service aces are fourth most by any team in the nation and best in the conference. On the defensive end of the court Quinnipiac leads the MAAC with 132 total blocks.

Sophomore Maria Pansari has started all 20 matches in 2017 and is sixth in the country with 35 service aces.

Marist will head to the Garden State this upcoming weekend to battle Saint Peter's on Saturday, October 7, and take on Rider the following day. First serve for both contests will be 1 p.m.
