Red Foxes Close Regular Season Versus Manhattan

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's basketball team will wrap up regular season play against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Manhattan on Sunday afternoon and celebrate Senior Day. The Red Foxes will honor seniors Sydnie Rosales, Morgan Metcalf, and team manager Huba Mduda with a ceremony starting at 1:45 p.m. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Audio and video of the game will be available on the Red Fox Network.

LAST TIME OUT

The Marist women's basketball team suffered a 70-36 loss to Quinnipiac on Thursday night. This loss leaves the Red Foxes' overall record at 13-16, and 10-9 in the MAAC.

MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP SEEDING

The Red Foxes are locked into the #6 seed in the upcoming MAAC tournament. Marist will face off against #11 seed Saint Peter's Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on MAAC.tv.

SCOUTING MANHATTAN

The Jaspers are coming off a 63-50 loss to Monmouth on Friday night. Kayla Grimme led the team with 25 points, shooting 9-23 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line. Nyasha Irizarry had nine points, all coming on three-pointers. Amani Tatum contributed five points, six steals, and three assists. Taylor Williams led the team with six rebounds.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE JASPERS

In the last matchup with Manhattan, the Red Foxes won 62-47. Rebekah Hand led the way with 25 points, shooting 9-18 from the field. She also led the team with four assists, and had two blocks. Maura Fitzpatrick added 13 points and had seven rebounds. Hannah Hand had 12 points, shooting 3-6 from behind the three-point line. Lovisa Henningsdottir led the team with eight rebounds and two steals.

SCOUTING MARIST

Last time out Lovisa Henningsdottir led the way with nine points, shooting 3-7 from the field. Maura Fitzpatrick added six points and three blocks. Kendall Baab and Claire Oberdorf each had five rebounds, and Oberdorf led the team with four steals. Rebekah Hand had seven points, three assists, and two steals. Hannah Hand did not play.

SISTER, SISTER

Rebekah and Hannah Hand are currently the third leading sister scoring tandem in the nation (Second amongst twin sisters). There are 16 sets of sisters in division one and 10 sets of twin sisters. Missouri has the top scoring sisters in the nation (Lindsey & Sophie Cunningham at 24.7 ppg), while UNLV has the top scoring twins (Dakota and Dylan Gonzalez at 23.6 ppg), right ahead of the twins at Marist, Rebekah and Hannah Hand (23.5 ppg).

ON THIS DATE

Feb. 26, 2010 - New Rochelle, New York - The Red Foxes defeated Iona 82-80 in overtime. Erica Allenspach hit a jumper with 1.2 seconds remaining to clinch the win. Rachele Fitz had a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds, and she also had three steals. Corielle Yarde added 16 points, shooting 4-7 from behind the three-point line. Lynzee Johnson had 10 points, shooting 4-8 from the field.
