Senior Janna Korak added three doubles and three RBIs on the day.
Here is a closer look at each game:
Game One – Marist 6, Binghamton 5
Marist got on the scoreboard just three hitters into the game when Korak's double brought home junior Miranda Perez, who had walked. Binghamton responded with a bases-clearing triple off the bat of Jessica Rutherford with two outs in the bottom of the third.
The Red Foxes answered with three runs in their next at-bat. Paul's first homer of the season tied the score at three. Perez then drew a bases-loaded walk, which forced home sophomore Brandi Coon and gave the Red Foxes the lead.
A wild pitch enabled Binghamton to tie the score in its half of the fourth, but the Red Foxes took the lead for good in the top of the fifth on a two-run homer off the bat of junior Gabrielle Kelliher.
Sophomore Megan Beiermeister (6-2) pitched the final four innings for the victory. Senior Jayne Oberdorf started and did not allow an earned run in the first three frames. Makenzie Goluba (0-1) took the loss for Binghamton.
Game Two – Marist 7, Binghamton 4
Marist again opened the scoring in the top of the first as Kelliher's fielder's choice scored sophomore Casey Page. Binghamton tied the game in the third on Rutherford's sacrifice fly, and then scored three runs in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.
However, the Red Foxes answered with five runs in their next at bat to take the lead for good. A two-run double by Korak brought the Red Foxes to within one, and senior Rebecca Freeman followed with a game-tying double. Two batters later, Paul's second homer of the day gave the Red Foxes the lead for good. The Red Foxes then tacked on an insurance run in the seventh when Korak scored on an error following a single by Kelliher.
Sophomore Kallen Leeseberg (2-4) earned the win with 3.1 scoreless innings in relief of red-shirt senior Jessica Van Alphen, who went the first 3.2. Rozlyn Price (2-7) took the loss in relief for Binghamton.
Marist is now 15-10 on the season, with wins in six of its last seven. Binghamton is now 7-14.
Marist returns to action on Sunday, when the Red Foxes open their conference and home schedules with a doubleheader against Siena. First pitch of game one is scheduled for noon.
