RIVERDALE, New York – The Marist men's soccer team heads south to Riverdale, NY for a Metro Atlantic Athletic conference matchup at the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday (2 p.m.)
The Red Foxes stand at 5-4-0 (1-0 MAAC) and are currently riding a two game win streak.
LAST TIME OUT:
Marist is coming off a 3-0 win vs Saint Peter's at Tenney Stadium on Wednesday night in the team's MAAC opener. For the fourth consecutive game, the Red Foxes got on the board first when junior co-captain

Kevin Kappock on the right side who sent a cross into the box that bounced past the Peacock defenders and goalie and into the bottom left corner for the 1-0 lead. Twenty two minutes into the second half, a Saint Peter's hand ball in the box gave Marist a penalty kick and sophomore
Samad Bounthong slotted it home inside the left post for the 2-0 lead. Just over six minutes later, Lund Jorgensen fed freshman
Blake Aronson on the left side who took it to the end line before feeding a cross into the box that found freshman
Allen Gavilanes who ripped the shot into the back of the net for the 3-0 victory.
RANKED:
The Red Foxes are ranked 10th in the United Soccer Coaches Northeast Region Week 5 poll, marking the fourth time this season the team was ranked.
Marist was previously ranked second, fourth and fifth in the Week 1-3 polls respectively.
SHOTS ALL AROUND:
For the second straight game, Red Foxes had over 20 shots vs Saint Peter's (24) and had more than half of the field players who appeared in the game registered at least one shot.
FIRST YEAR MVP:
As a freshman, Gavilanes now leads the team in goals (4), assists (6), shots (24) and shots on goal (10). His goal vs Saint Peter's gave him at least one point in his last four straight games and seven of nine so far this season.
AMONG THE BEST IN THE MAAC:
Gavilanes is currently first in the MAAC in shots (24), assists (6) and points (14) and is tied for third in goals (4).
Junior
Juan Parada is currently tied for fifth in the MAAC in assists (3).
Senior
Mark Rajovic has played every minute in goal so far this season. He is second in the conference in saves (37), is tied for third in save percentage (.755) and fifth in saves per game (4.11).
NATIONALLY RANKED:
Gavilanes is also amongst the nation's elite and prior to the Saint Peter's game was ranked fourth in the NCAA in total assists (6), seventh in assists per game (0.75) and 38th in points per game (1.50),
Rajovic is included in the NCAA's active career leaders and going into the game vs the Peacocks ranked fourth in saves (265) and ninth in minutes played (5,482.53).
SERIES HISTORY:
Last season, Marist beat the Jaspers 5-0 at Tenney Stadium with sophomore
Cameron Harr scoring four goals in 4:20 in the second half.
In the past 10 seasons, the series record between the two teams is 4-4-2 with the Red Foxes having outscored the Jaspers 18-12.
SCOUTING THE JASPERS:
The Jaspers stand at 4-4-0 (1-0 MAAC) and are coming off a 1-0 2OT victory at the Iona Gaels to open conference play on Wednesday afternoon.
Junior Lucas Da Silva leads the team with seven points and seven shots on goal and is tied for first with three goals.
Sophomore Noah Amissah is tied for first with three goals, is second with 12 shots and is tied for second with six points and six shots on goal.
Sophomore Marcellin Gohier and junior Connor Hayes have split time in goal, playing 348:37 and 386:15 minutes respectively. Gohier has allowed three goals against to go along with 11 saves, a 0.77 goals against average and a .786 save percentage. Hayes has allowed seven goals against to go along with 17 saves, 1.36 goals against average and a .708 save percentage.
