Men's Soccer Hosts No. 2 Quinnipiac on Senior Day

Red Foxes Prepare for Penultimate Regular Season Matchup

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Men's soccer is currently sitting third in the MAAC behind Fairfield and Quinnipiac, and have the chance to take the second seed as we close in on the MAAC playoffs. Heading into these final matches they will look to finish strong against talented competition. They will face off against Quinnipiac tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. after a presentation to honor the graduating seniors.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes are coming off of a tie with Fairfield who holds the best record in the conference.
  • This match ended 1-1 with both teams were knotted at 12 shots. Marist led the game with 6 saves.
  • Diego Casielles got Fairfield their only goal of the day through a free kick 20 yards from the post.
  • The Red Foxes took 11 of their 12 shots in the second half and their only goal came within the last seconds of regulations by forward Cameron Harr.
  • The match went into double OT but no team was able to come away with the golden goal.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
  • The Bobcats are 8-5-2 overall with a 6-1-1 MAAC record following a win in their last match against Niagara.
  • They are typically a better home team, holding a 2-4-1 road record.  
  • Eamon Whelan leads the team with 11 goals this season, while Rashawn Dally leads the Bobcats in assists.

  • Preseason POTY Allen Gavilanes leads the team with four goals and four assists, while Samad Bounthong (4G, 2A) and Skylar Conway (3G, 4A) are right behind him.
  • With a win, Marist will secure their best MAAC record since joining the conference in 1997 (currently 6-3-0)
  • Cameron Harr's game-tying goal against Fairifield was his first since his historic sophomore season at Marist when he scored 17 goals in a single season and earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Year.
SENIOR DAY
The Red Fox seniors will be honored before the game for their hard work and commitment as part of the program. The members of the Marist women's soccer Class of 2019 amassed over 30 wins and 19 conference wins in their four years on campus, reaching the playoffs three times.
