LOUDONVILLE, New York – The Marist water polo team moved over .500 for the first time this season and improved to 4-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play with 22-6 and 24-7 wins over the Siena Saints and La Salle Explorers on Sunday.
The Red Foxes now stand at 11-10 (4-0 MAAC) on the season and have won eight of their last nine games.
SUMMARY VS SIENA:
Marist opened the game with five goals in the opening eight minutes from junior co-captain

Lauren Smith made it 6-0 Red Foxes with 5:19 left in the second quarter, before the Saints got on the board with a power play goal. Freshmen
Aminadi Anorve (2) and
Katelin Harris added to the Marist lead before Siena scored two goals sandwiched around a goal by sophomore
Megan Clarke and at the end of the first half it was 11-3 Red Foxes.
Both teams traded goals to open the third quarter with junior
Grace Doerfler scoring for Marist before the Red Foxes scored four straight goals from Doerfler (2), Castro and Smith to take a 16-4 lead with 1:40 left in the third period. The Saints got one back at the end of the quarter and with eight minutes left it was 16-5 Marist.
Six consecutive goals by the Red Foxes gave them the 22-5 lead with 4:17 left in the game, before Siena rounded out the scoring with a goal at the 3:56 mark to bring the score to 22-6.

SUMMARY VS LA SALLE:
???????Doerfler and Castro opened the scoring for Marist, before the Explorers answered with a goal at the 5:17 mark. The Red Foxes rolled off four straight goals from Carballo Tijerina, Clarke and Gauvin before La Salle trimmed the deficit to 6-2 at the 1:07 mark of the opening quarter. Marist then answered with goals by junior
Ariana Singer and Harris to take the 8-2 lead after one period.
The Red Foxes scored four straight goals to open the second quarter from Anorve, Harris, Smith and Mathes to take a 12-2 lead, before the Explorers answered with a goal with 4:05 left. Marist then answered with goals by Smith and Hermosillo, sandwiched around a La Salle goal and after one half it was 14-4 Red Foxes.
The Explorers opened the scoring in the second half, before six straight goals for Marist open a 20-5 lead. La Salle scored back-to-back goals to bring the score to 20-7, before Smith and Anorve gave the Red Foxes the 22-7 lead after three periods.
Sophomore
Lexi Puhl and Clarke then wrapped up the scoring on the day with goals in the fourth quarter to give Marist the 24-7 win.
