Softball Travels to Face MAAC Rivals Iona, Siena

Contests With Iona To Be Carried Live ON ESPN+

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist softball team will travel for its next two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheaders.
 
On Sunday, the Red Foxes will head to New Rochelle for a doubleheader with Iona. First pitch of game one is scheduled for noon, with both games being carried on ESPN+. For more information on ESPN+, please click here.
 
Marist will then head to Loudonville for a doubleheader against Siena, which was postponed from this past Thursday. These games will take place on Tuesday, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 2 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Marist split a doubleheader against Quinnipiac on Saturday, April 14. Marist lost the first game 3-0 due to a complete game, three-hit shutout by Bobcats pitcher Casey Herzog. Carolina Baratta, Miranda Perez, and Kourtney Paul each recorded a hit for Marist. Starter Megan Beiermeister game up six hits and struck out four.
 
Marist won the second game by a score of 9-6. Junior Brooke Peterson got the win, giving up one earned run in 3.2 innings of relief. Claire Oberdorf stole the show, driving in four runs. Three of the came on a homer to dead center that gave Marist the lead for good. Ali Milam and Casey Page added three hits each, with Milam driving in two runs.
 
OBERDORF WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Oberdorf was named MAAC Player of the Week this past Tuesday. Oberdorf had a .500 batting average, hit two home runs (including a grand slam at Fairfield on April 13), and racked up eight RBIs. As a team, Marist went 3-1 over the last week.
 
SCOUTING THE GAELS
Iona heads into the weekend with a 15-19 overall record, and a 7-3 MAAC record. The Gaels have a home doubleheader against Monmouth on Saturday. Jasmine Temple, Tori Danner, and Ciarra DiGuilio all have four home runs and 14 RBIs. Pitchers Alana Evans and Marnie Skinner both have ERAs under 2.00.
 
LAST YEAR VS IONA
Marist went 2-1 against the Gaels, including a victory in the MAAC Championships.
 
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
Siena has a 9-17 overall record, and a 4-2 record in MAAC play. Prior to meeting the Red Foxes, the Saints have a home doubleheader with Quinnipiac on Saturday, and a road doubleheader against Fairfield on Sunday.
 
Madysen Cossack has five of the Saints' seven home runs, and a.367 average to boot. Maddie McMahon and her 2.93 ERA lead a solid pitching staff.
 
LAST YEAR VS SIENA
Marist split a doubleheader against the Saints in its conference opener on April 2. 
 
UP NEXT
Marist returns to Gartland Field next weekend for its last two home doubleheaders of the season against Manhattan (Saturday, April 28, noon) and Saint Peter's (Sunday, April 29, noon).
