SANTA CRUZ, Bolivia - Juan Parada, 2019 graduate of the Marist men's soccer team, has signed professionally to play with Oriente Petrolero. A Santa Cruz native, Parada will play for his hometown team that has won five Bolivian national titles and one international title.
Parada most recently helped the Marist squad reach their best conference record in two decades at 6-2-2. The team finished 8-5-5 overall with a win over No. 17 Pacific en route to a MAAC semifinal finish.Â
In two years with the program, Parada was a mainstay at midfield and started in 31 of 35 games. He recorded three goals and five assists and was consistent on defense for the Red Foxes.
Parada becomes the fourth men's soccer player in program history to sign with a professional club. Matty Berman (2016 - New Jersey Copa FC), Josh Faga (2013 - Rochester Rhinos) and
Krystian Witkowski (2012 - Philadelphia Union) were Marist's three previous players to go pro.
