POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's soccer team will head to Providence for its first-round NCAA College Cup match-up on Thursday at 7 p.m..
The Red Foxes enter NCAA play at 12-6-3 on the season. Marist earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference automatic qualifier by virtue of winning the conference championship on Sunday against Rider, which was decided in penalty kicks.
Kyle Galloway was named Most Valuable Player of the MAAC Championship, while
Henrique Cruz,
Bernardo Gracindo, and
Demarre Montoute was named to the All-Championship Team. Marist enters NCAA play with a nine-match unbeaten streak at 7-0-2.
Providence is 10-4-4 overall and finished second in the Big East with 18 points (5-2-3). The Friars reached the championship match of the Big East Tournament.
If the Red Foxes prevail on Thursday, Marist will face #14 overall seed and defending national champion Marshall at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Red Foxes have won four MAAC championships in program history (2000, 2004, 2005, 2021). This is Marist's third NCAA Tournament appearance (2004, 2005, 2021).
