Water Polo’s Sánchez Earns MAAC Preseason Co-Goalkeeper Of The Year Honors

Baumgarten, Sánchez Selected To Preseason All-MAAC Team

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist women's water polo team has earned high honors entering the 2025 season. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selected Inés Sánchez as Preseason Co-Goalkeeper of the Year.

Sánchez was also named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team for the upcoming 2025 season. Last season, Sánchez earned ACWPC All-American Honorable mention in her second season with the Red Foxes. Sánchez led the Red Foxes to the MAAC Championship, finishing with a 9-2 record in net.

Ella Baumgarten joins Sánchez on the Preseason All-MAAC Team, as the Red Foxes had two student-athletes selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Team. Baumgarten, last season, earned First-Team All-MAAC honors for an outstanding 2024 season.

Baumgarten finished the 2024 season with 40 goals and eight assists for the Red Foxes. Baumgarten earned her second consecutive ACWPC All-American Honorable Mention award in 2024.

The Red Foxes were selected second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. In the poll, the Red Foxes place just behind the defending MAAC Champion, Wagner, with 71 votes.

The Red Foxes are slated to begin the 2025 season with the Brown Tournament, playing four opponents matches. The Brown Tournament begins Jan.31 against Indiana.
