CUMBERLAND, RI – Marist men's and women's tennis aim to rebound against Holy Cross on Thursday, Mar. 6, after falling in each of their previous matches, 4-3 to Monmouth and 4-0 to Army, respectively.

The contest will begin at 9 a.m. at the Fore Court Racquet and Fitness Club in Cumberland, RI.

Before falling to Monmouth, men's tennis held a three-game win streak, downing Lafayette, Merrimack, and Colgate.
 
 

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE MEN

• The Red Foxes lost 3-4 at home to Monmouth on Sunday, Mar. 2.
• Ian Layton and Nick Suhanitski won their matchup at #1 doubles, 6-2.
• Jose Catala and Gregor Heinemann won at #2 doubles, 6-1.

 

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WOMEN

• Marist was swept by Army, 4-0, on Feb. 22.
• Ella Lindsey/Caterina Assi and Victoria Lorentzon/Ellen Zureick fell in their doubles matches 6-3.
• Close Clements Sorde fell at #2 singles,  6-2,6-2.
• Viktoria Lorentzon was defeated at #3 singles, 6-3, 6-1.

 

LAYTON AND CATALA FINDING SUCCESS

• Against Monmouth, Jose Catala and Ian Layton were the Red Foxes' key contributors.
• Catala won his #2 singles match, 6-4, 7(7)-6).
• Layton won his #6 singles match, 7(2)-6, 6-1.

 

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS MEN'S TENNIS

• This is the third-ever matchup between Marist and Holy Cross, with Marist winning both previous contests.
• Marist swept the Crusaders in their most recent matchup 7-0.
• Holy Cross is 1-3 in 2025, losing their last three matches.
• Freshman Lukas Bikkesbakker is 5-4 in singles overall.
• Freshman Will Donnelly and junior Camilo Illanes are 4-3 in doubles matches and a combined 4-6 in singles.

 

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS WOMEN'S TENNIS

• Holy Cross sits at 2-4 on the season.
• Marist won the only prior matchup between these teams 5-2.
• Alison Lynn is 5-2 in singles and 2-5 in doubles.
• Holy Cross beat DIII outfit Salve Regina 6-1 in their previous match, snapping a three-match losing streak.
