Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College rallied past Wagner tonight in their first home win of the season. The Red Foxes defeated the Seahawks 3-1 and are now 4-8 on the season.
Marist rallied in the third game to tie the score 30-30. The Seahawks then serve an error to put Marist up 31-30. Sophomore setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) served the game point and seal the win for the Red Foxes.
The Marist offense was led by senior middle blocker Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) with a .400 hitting percentage behind 25 kills on the match. Sophomore Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) hit 10 digs and five aces on the night while classmate Cochrane chipped in 45 assists and 10 digs.
Senior middle blocker Michelle Wilk (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) led the Seahawks with 10 kills while freshman outside hitters Molly Judge (Green Bay, WI/Notre Dame Academy) and Victoria Eagles (Washington DC/Maret) collected 11 digs respectively.
Marist volleyball will take to the road again this weekend as they head to Worcester, MA to take part in the Holy Cross Tournament. The Red Foxes will face Fairleigh Dickinson at 5:00pm on Friday September 19th followed by a match versus Dartmouth on Saturday September 20th at 10:00am and then close out the tournament against host Holy Cross on Saturday at 7:00pm. The Seahawks will also be on the road as they head to Easton, PA to play in the Lafayette Tournament.
