Worcester, MA - The Red Foxes came out fighting this morning to defeat Darmouth in the second game of the Holy Cross Tournament. Marist handed the Big Green their second loss of the season as the Red Foxes improve to a 4-8 record.
Marist was never down by more than three points during the course of the match as they rallied to defeat Dartmouth 30-28, 30-24, 30-28. Sophomore setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) sealed the win for the Red Foxes as she tipped in the game point.
Cochrane aided the offense with 40 assists and 12 digs while junior setter Amy Gillespie (Lebo, KS/NE Oklahoma A&M) led both the offense and defense earning a double double with 12 kills and a career high 21 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) and freshman outside hitter Stefanie Miksh (Austin, TX/James Bowie) added 11 and 10 kills respectively to the scoring attack.
The Red Foxes will finish up the Holy Cross Tournament at 7:00pm when they face host crusaders.
