Junior Jaime Kenworthy's double-double (18 kills, 11 digs) led the Red Foxes to a 3-1 victory in their final match of the Marist Invitational today. Marist took games one and two of the match, 30-22 and 31-29 before falling 30-21 in game three. Coach Hutton's troops responded with a decisive 30-17 victory in game four to claim the match.
Sally Hanson (Guerneville, Calif.) continued her stellar play with 11 kills on .550 hitting along with three blocks. Hanson was on a tear this weekend, racking up 42 kills with just one error on .526 hitting for three matches. Classmate Jackie Poston (Huntingtown, Md.) joined her on the blocks, leading the team with four total to go along with five kills against the Knights. Poston led the team with six aces for the weekend.
Junior Stefanie Miksch (Austin, Texas) was also in double-digits with 10 kills while Kenworthy's 18 was a match-high. Libero Katie Lux (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied 12 digs and setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, Calif.) recorded 43 assists as well as eight digs.
Fairleigh Dickinson had four players with double-digit kills, with Elena Schmidt leading the way with 15.
Marist hit a solid .311 as a team for the match. The team went 2-1 for the tournament, taking second place and improving to 4-10 overall. For their efforts, Hanson and Kenworthy were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Red Foxes return to the court on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Lehigh at the McCann Center.
